Blackett, Maguire + Goldsmith – Building Surveyor March 2022 – Present

  • Assess applications for complying development certificates, construction certificates and occupation certificates.
  • Assess design documentation for a range of commercial projects with varying complexity including healthcare and
    aged care.
  • Carry out BCA audits and prepare BCA reports that detail non-compliances with the deemed-to-satisfy provisions
    of the BCA.
  • Participate and provide input for the performance based design briefs including performance solutions for fire
    safety measures that require referral to Fire and Rescue NSW.


Master Builders Association Victoria – Building Surveyor January 2021 – March 2022

  • Assess design documentation for a diverse range of projects, including residential and commercial projects.
  • Liaise with all stakeholders including architects, project managers, developers and builders to ensure compliance
    with regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare building permits, construction certificates and variations.

Griffith City Council December 2014-January 2021

  • Building Certification Coordinator (February 2016 – present)
  • Supervision and management of Council’s Building Certification Unit in all aspects, including workflow management
    and staff development
  • Assist in supervision, project management and administration of Council building projects.
  • Advise developers, applicants and other members of the public about the application of Council’s policies and
    regulatory standards. This may include the facilitation and attendance of regular meetings with applicants,
    consultants, senior management.
  • Coordinate the provision of Building Certification services to other organisations that are contracted for service
    with Griffith City Council, and the provision of specialist certification services to Griffith City Council by external
    providers.
  • Ensure appropriate representation of Council in legal proceedings concerning building and related development
    applications, as directed by senior management.
  • Undertake research and draft reports relating to building certification from operational and strategic perspectives.
  • Keep abreast of relevant legislation and practices and participate in professional development programs.

 

Planning & Environmental Compliance Officer (December 2014 – February 2016)

  • Respond to all complaints and conduct inspections of outstanding development consent matters,and provide
    assessments to establish compliance and issue further directions where required.
  • Promote proactive strategies to communicate, educate and liaise with key stakeholders and promote Council’s
    policies.
  • Issue Penalty Infringements, Notices, Orders and correspondence from investigations and substantiated
    complaints in accordance with legislative guidelines, sound professional advice, Council policy, and with delegated
    authority in a manner that utilises sound judgement and discretion.
  • Undertake accurate records of interview with offenders in accordance with the provisions of the Evidence Act 1995.
  • Monitor, review, and implement changes in policies, procedures and standing directions.
  • To assist with the provisions of environmental protection and development compliance to other organisations with
    whom Griffith City Council may negotiate contracts for service.
