Shannon is considered one of Environmental Health’s outstanding leaders. He continues to develop his leadership skills through the management of his own consultancy business “Assure Consulting”, senior advisory positions with Aspen Medical Australia and Aspen Medical USA and as a Flight Lieutenant with Royal Australian Air Force.
He has worked in the professional fields of Planning, Environmental Science, Environmental Health and Occupational Hygiene as both a manager and a specialist.
He has won Planning Institute of Australia awards in the areas of health and social planning for work carried out for Queensland Health. He currently consults’ to numerous government agencies including the NSW Food Authority and ACT Health on best practice food safety regulation reforms and public health initiatives.
Most recently, Shannon has been working in West Africa as part of the global response to the Ebola outbreak where he provided expert advise to various government and non-government agencies. These agencies included the World Health Organisation, USAID, MSF, UKAID and Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
